Period Rooms

The mezzanine of the museum contains seven period rooms:

  • Victorian Room as it might have appeared in 1860s in the eastern United States.

  • Majors, Waddell  & Russell room (founders of the Pony Express).

  • Frank and Mary Marshall room (founders of Marysville and Marshall County, Kansas).

  • The pony rider.

  • The Barrett Hotel where the pony riders probably roomed.  (Now Ar-Ex Drug Store at 8th and Broadway.)

  • A typical station kitchen.

  • A telegraph room whose beginnings signaled the end of the Pony Express.
